FUTO GETS NEW DVCs

FUTO GETS NEW DEPUTY VICE CHANCELLORs -
FUTO Alumni.org
In a bid to provide solid framework towards the
accomplishment of the remaining goals in his
vision for FUTO's transformation,our Vice
Chancellor, Prof. C.O.E. Onwuliri presented Prof.
Onyewuchi Oguoma (former Dean of SEET) and
Prof. Goddy Nwankwo (Director of OUD) and two
others as candidates fill in the vacant positions
of Deputy Vice-Chancellors (DVCs)to both the
Senate and Governing Council for election and
confirmation.
In their wisdom, Profs. Oguoma and Nwankwo
were elected the DVC Academic and Admin
respectively. To underscore the dire need for
these two eminent academicians, the VC
constituted a management team headed by Prof.
Oguoma to seek ways of improving workers
attitude to work and productivity. Within just one
week, this special team went round the schools
and units to address workers and deliberate of
how best to improve performance at all levels in
FUTO. The outcome of these deliberations saw
the immediate implementation of workers
attendance registers with condition that workers
found wanting will have salaries withheld. This
singular condition has resulted in 180 degrees
change in attitude of workers and increased
performance.
As DVC academics, Prof. Oguoma has started
working with senate committee on exams to
ensure results are published on time and made
available to the Registry department
immediately. This was a major setback in fight to
increase the processing time of the transcript.
The situation we found on ground is that record
and statistic officials had in many occasions had
to go to the departments to look for results and
this delays the transcript processing. But the VC
promised to talk this immediately, and it is hoped
that within the next few months, we will reduce
the transcript processing time by 50% at least.
The Alumni movement joins the rest of the
University community to welcome our brand new
DVCs on board and look forward to partnering
with them to move our Alma Mata to higher
heights.
