Osogbo—The Apex Court has fixed hearing in
an appeal filed by the governorship candidate
of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, during the
August 9th governorship election in Osun State,
Senator Iyiola Omisore for tomorrow.
In an appeal notice issued by the Supreme
Court, dated 30th April 2015 and dispatched to
all the parties concerned, the court maintained
that it would begin the hearing of the appeal.
Omisore appealed against the judgment of the
Court of Appeal sitting in Akure, Ondo State,
which affirmed the victory of Governor Rauf
Aregbesola of the All Progressives Congress,
APC.
The Court of Appeal had on the 2nd April, 2015
not only dismissed Omisore’s petition for
lacking in merit, but went ahead to dismiss it on
the ground that the petition was abandoned in
gross violation of paragraphs 18 (1) of the first
schedule to the Elector*l Act,2010 as amended.
The State Election Petition Tribunal had earlier
dismissed Omsiore’s petition on February 6th
2015 challenging the victory of Governor
Aregbesola at the August 9th Governorship
Election in the State for lacking in merit.
